All That Remains begin writing new album.
Massachusetts metallers ALL THAT REMAINS have officially commenced the songwriting sessions for their next album. The band is once again working with KILLSWITCH ENGAGE guitarist Adam Dutkiewicz, who also helmed ALL THAT REMAINS' latest album, 2010's "For We Are Many", as well as 2004's "This Darkened Heart" and 2006's "The Fall of Ideals".

Gibson Guitar Corp.'s chief slams U.S. government.
Gibson Guitar Corp.'s chief slammed the U.S. government on Wednesday for sending armed agents to raid two Tennessee factories under a law aimed at curbing the illegal harvest of tropical hardwoods.
"Armed people came in our factory ... evacuated our employees, then seized half a million dollars of our goods without any charges having been filed," Gibson CEO Henry Juszkiewicz told reporters and others at a Washington lunch.
"I think it's a clear overreach," he said.
Government agents seized a total of over $1 million worth of rosewood, ebony and finished guitars from Gibson factories in Memphis and Nashville in raids in 2009 and August of this year, Juszkiewicz said.
He brought samples of rosewood and ebony to the lunch; these tropical hardwoods, used in guitar fingerboards, are prized for their strength and tone. Gibson's factories remain open "under great difficulty" because the raids took most of the company's raw materials, the CEO said.
The U.S. Justice Department declined on Wednesday to comment on the case but provided information on the Lacey Act, which aims to curb trafficking in wildlife, fish and plant products, including illegally obtained timber.
"By prohibiting trafficking in wood illegally harvested overseas, the Lacey Act prohibits companies from undercutting law-abiding U.S. wood products companies ... by trading in artificially inexpensive raw materials that have been illegally harvested from foreign forests," Justice and Interior department officials wrote in a letter. -

New Megadeth album audio samples available for streaming.
30-second audio samples of all the tracks that are set to appear on MEGADETH's new album, "TH1RT3EN", are available for streaming on Amazon.com.
"TH1RT3EN" is scheduled for release on November 1 via Roadrunner Records. The CD was recorded at mainman Dave Mustaine's Vic's Garage studio in San Marcos, California with producer Johnny K (full name: John Karkazis), who has previously worked with DISTURBED, SEVENDUST, MACHINE HEAD and STAIND, among others. The artwork was once again created by artist John Lorenzi, who worked on the last two MEGADETH studio albums, 2007's "United Abominations" and 2009's "Endgame", as well as the band's 2007 box set, "Warchest".
"TH1RT3EN" marks the recorded return of bassist David Ellefson who was part of the band's classic lineup from 1983 to 2002. In a move that delighted the band's legion of diehards, Ellefson returned to performing live with MEGADETH in early 2010 and has remained a fixture on the stage ever since. This is the first time Ellefson has played on a MEGADETH record since 2002's "Rude Awakening".
MEGADETH filmed the "Public Enemy No. 1" video on September 17 in Santa Clarita, California. The clip was shot on a movie set where old Westerns are filmed.

Weezer bassist dies after spooky death tweet
Mikey Welsh, most famously known as the bassist for the rock band Weezer, died unexpectedly on Saturday. He was 40.
The shocking news comes nearly two weeks after a September 26 tweet in which Welsh described a premonition he'd had about his own death.
"Dreamt I died in Chicago next weekend (heart attack in my sleep). Need to write my will today." Then he wrote: "correction - the weekend after next." No official word has been stated regarding the cause of death, but according to the Chicago Tribune, the rocker is thought to have died of a drug overdose.
Welsh's former bandmates took to Twitter soon after to pay tribute. "We are shocked and deeply saddened to hear the awful news, our friend and fellow Weez rocker @mikeywelsh71 has passed away," Weezer tweeted after hearing the news. "We love u Mikey."
"Rest in peace Mikey Welsh, you deserve it," drummer Patrick Wilson tweeted shortly after. -

TRIVIUM To Record Acoustic Version Of 'Built To Fall
Matt Heafy (guitar, vocals), Corey Beaulieu (guitar) and Paolo Gregoletto (bass) of Florida-based metallers TRIVIUM will enter a Chicago, Illinois-area studio soon to record an acoustic version of the band's new song "Built To Fall".
